Special Exhibits

From the Revolution to World War II, See The Norlands Treasures on Display in the Mansion

In honor of America’s 250th birthday, we have put together a special exhibit at the Norlands featuring treasures from our collection telling the story of how the Washburns and Livermore served the United States from the French and Indian War through World War II.  Many of these artifacts have never been displayed before.

Highlights of the exhibit include:

 

The story of Lt. Samuel Benjamin’s Revolutionary War Service from Lexington and Concord to Valley Forge to Yorktown.

The Revolutionary War soldiers who settled early Livermore

Martha “Patty” Benjamin and “Republican Motherhood”

The Washburns: Fighting in Congress

The Civil War: From the Halls of Power to the Hills of Gettyburg, Vicksburg and beyond

At service abroad: The Washburn Ambassadorships

Treasures from World War I and World War II

And… a few treasures from the newly curated textiles collection

Guided Tours are available Tuesday through Saturday at 11am and 2pm. Self Guided Tours are also available on Living History Days (Saturdays in July and August.)
