Living History Days

Join Us for Living History Days at the Norlands on Saturdays in July and August from 9:30am – 4pm

Living History Day Activites May Include:

Baking in the Kitchen – Come to the Farmer’s Cottage kitchen and learn to bake on the wood stove!  9:45 and 12:30

School in the Schoolhouse – come experience School in 1870 including doing declamations, practicing penmanship with a dip pen and showing how well you make your manners! Visit the schoolteacher anytime and the bell rings for the full day’s lesson 10:30 & 1:30

Mansion Tour – see the first floor of the Washburn Mansion and learn about the Washburn family. At 11:15 & 2:15 

Stories in the Barn with Mercy Lovejoy – Hear entertaining stories of old Livermore from the town pauper, Mercy Lovejoy, interpreted by Willi Irish. 11 – 2

Ice Cream Making –  churn and eat – homemade ice cream (contains eggs) it takes a while back in 1870. The cranking starts at 2:30           

Sewing in Mr Washburn’s Kitchen – learn classic 19th needlework from our expert seamstress and see some of her creations 11 – 3

Visit the Barn – Meet our animals and see historic farm implements 11 – 3

Civil War Demonstrations – learn about life as a soldier in the Civil War 11 – 3

 

Living History Day Tips:

Try to arrive by 1pm to enjoy as many activities as possible.  

Order tickets ahead of time online so that we can plan for the best possible day for your group.

Wear comfotable shoes – you will be walking a lot!

Bring a water bottle – you will want to stay hydrated exploring our 400 acres.

Feel free to dress up in 19th century clothing!

Hike on our Trails & Visit Bartlett Pond

Enjoy a picnic on our lawn
