There are only five more months until Christmas! When decorating for our Christmas at Norlands: 19th-Century Holiday Celebration event last December, we noticed a lack of ornaments for our tree. Ummmm....we thought, why not make ornaments throughout the year so that we are more prepared for our next event? What started as a simple need for more ornaments, has transformed into a summer morning of holiday fun and cheer.
This event is a blend of historical and contemporary Christmas and Winter fun that highlights ornament making, outdoor holiday-themed games on the lawn, letter writing to Santa, a holiday trivia game, and a sharing of how the Washburns and their neighbors celebrated Christmas in the 1800s. Please note that our traditional tours of the mansion and schoolhouse will not be offered at this time.
Stop by for some old-fashioned fun and support Maine's oldest living history museum.
FOOD: Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful grounds. Frozen hot chocolate for sale ($2 per cup)
The schedule and details are subject to change. Check back often!
