Sunday | January 27, 2019
9am - 2pm
Admission is free for the ice harvest. Mansion Tours ($5) Soup ($3)
Join us for our annual ice harvest on Bartlett Pond, just down the road from the Norlands. Norlands staff will demonstrate how to harvest ice using traditional methods. Try your hand at using vintage tools to cut blocks of ice. Lend a hand loading it onto horse-drawn wagons and unloading it into Norlands' new ice house! Members of the draft horse club will be onsite to transport the ice from the pond to Norlands' new barn.
Please note that no wagon/sleigh rides will be offered at this event. Visitors are encouraged to park by the pond and drive up to the Norlands to see the ice house.
Warm up with a bowl of soup and a biscuit ($3) served in the farmer's cottage at Norlands from 10am to 2pm. A variety of soups and cookies available while supplies last. Coffee and hot chocolate available all day.
Guided tours of the 1867 Washburn family mansion will be offered at 11am, Noon, and 1pm. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased the day of the event.
In case of bad weather, this event will be canceled by 9am the day of the event. Call the Norlands and listen to the outgoing message, visit this webpage or check the Norlands Facebook Page for updates.
